Team Chinched Bistro returned for a 3rd year to the Gold Medal Plates competition, which is a fundraiser for the Canadian Olympic & Paralympic Teams.
If you are unfamiliar with Gold Medal Plates, it is an event which celebrates excellence in Canadian Food, Wine, Athletics and Music. We were honoured to be asked to return for the 2014 competition. In St. John’s there are 8 competing chefs, with a pairing of Canadian wine, Beer or Spirit of their choice, that they hope will get them the gold medal? The competition in St. John’s is friendly yet fierce.
This year we had the support of our friends at Rollingdale Winery in Kelowna, BC.They worked with us from across the country to pair our dish with their 2011 Merlot. The wine was amazing and apparently we were not the only ones who that so. The wine judges selected the Rollingdale Merlot as the wine of Show for St. John’s. Big thank you to Steve & Kristy Dale and their team for making a beautiful wine and for supporting us at Gold Medal Plates.
We are happy to say that we won the Bronze medal for 2014. And we would like to congratulate all the participating chefs on an amazing evening of food. Big congratulations for Chris Chafe of the Doctor’s House on Silver and Mark McCrowe of Aqua on winning Gold!
